Holiday-Ready Home Remodel

Holiday-Ready Home Remodel: Bright, Open, and Built for Gathering

For many homeowners, the kitchen is where the holidays truly come to life — from morning coffee to family dinners and festive celebrations. In this project, DJ’s Home Improvements transformed a once-enclosed kitchen into a light-filled, open-concept space designed for both daily living and seasonal entertaining.

A Kitchen That Connects

The homeowners wanted a kitchen that didn’t feel cut off from the rest of the home. By opening up the wall between the kitchen and living room, our team created an easy flow that encourages connection and conversation — perfect for hosting and holidays alike. The result is an inviting, practical space that feels larger and more comfortable without adding square footage.

Timeless Finishes with a Modern Spark

Every detail of this remodel was chosen with care to balance timeless charm with subtle contemporary energy. The cabinetry features a mix of Starmark Maple Bridgeport door style in Dove for the wall cabinets and Blueberry for the base cabinets — a striking two-tone pairing that keeps the space fresh and dynamic.

Countertops in Caesarstone White Attica quartz bring a polished, marble-like elegance, while a Jeffrey Court Ashland & Halsted “Yesterday’s Glass” mirrored backsplash reflects light beautifully across the kitchen. This mirrored tile wall — installed horizontally for maximum visual impact — became a defining design statement, enhancing both brightness and depth. The mirrored backsplash was also chosen to echo and highlight the home’s original vintage Chambers range, a working centerpiece the clients wanted to preserve.

Polished Details that Shine

Fixtures and hardware continue the refined theme. The Kohler Bellera faucet in polished chrome pairs perfectly with the Kohler K-3945-NA Vault Smart Divide sink, while the homeowner’s selections from Rejuvenation — including Vernon Mushroom knobs and Vernon Bin Pulls — bring a touch of vintage-inspired character. Overhead, the Rejuvenation Baldwin pendant lights cast a warm glow, tying together the polished chrome accents throughout the space.

A Space Ready for the Season

The transformation created more than a beautiful kitchen — it established a hub for family gatherings and celebrations. With the open layout, durable finishes, and radiant design elements, this home is now ready to handle everything from quiet mornings to festive dinners.

“The mirrored backsplash gave us both light and movement,” says Vita, designer at DJ’s Home Improvements. “It’s the kind of detail that makes the kitchen feel special without overwhelming the space.”

Every great transformation starts with a clear vision — and photos from the early stages of this project tell that story. Before the remodel, the kitchen was a more closed-off, dimly lit space, with walls separating it from the living and dining areas. Our team carefully planned each step to maintain structural integrity while opening up sightlines and inviting more natural light.

During the demolition and framing stage, you can see the dramatic difference as walls were removed, exposing the kitchen to the living area and creating the foundation for a true open-concept layout. Electrical and plumbing updates were completed at this stage, ensuring the space would accommodate modern appliances, lighting, and the carefully chosen fixtures that define the finished kitchen.

Midway through, the installation of cabinetry, countertops, and backsplash began to hint at the final look. The two-tone Starmark cabinetry started to bring depth and character, while the mirrored backsplash reflected the growing light and energy of the space. Even at this stage, the kitchen felt brighter and more connected to the rest of the home — a preview of the warm, welcoming environment the homeowners envisioned.

This side-by-side before-and-after captures the full impact of opening the kitchen to the living room. The comparison highlights how removing walls and thoughtfully updating finishes can completely change the feel of a home — turning a once-closed kitchen into a bright, welcoming hub for family gatherings and holiday celebrations.
